Walking in the Park

Well well well. Friday I had a date! I went out with a boy and the evening didn’t end with me on my back with my legs in the air. How novel! I met a very nice boy on OK cupid. We decided to meet up in person and scout out places in Central Park that were good for reading stories. Oliver, as I have decided to dub him, like to organize activities. He and his friends have a regular Hot Chocolate Crawl and Ice cream Crawl, and since summer is rolling around, Oliver wanted to find a nice spot for reading aloud. We agreed to meet at the northwest part of Columbus circle at about 515. I got there early, because I’d been having paranoid dreams about over sleeping and being late (though how I could sleep through a date at 515 in the afternoon? Ah well, that’s how the mind works.) I spent a few minutes trying to figure out which part of the circle was north, and settled in to wait. After about four seconds, I was accosted by one of those ‘tour through the park’ pedi cab guys.
“Hello miss! Want a tour through the park?”

“Oh, no thank you. I’m meeting someone.”

“Ah, then a romantic tour through the park?”

“Um…we’ll see!” I wandered away, and started reading, but in seconds he was back.

“If you want, I can help you find him. What does he look like?” My god, this guy was insistent.

“He’s a 6′2” redhead. I think I’ll be able to find him, thanks.” Eventually, he must have found a fare, because he finally left me alone. About twenty after five, I saw him walking around towards me. I’m going to show how horribly fannish I can be right now, but I immediately thought he looked like Ron Weasly, sanz freckles. I mean, he did! So adorable.

I can honestly say, I have not have this much fun with a boy and not been naked, getting naked, or thinking about getting naked. Really! We walked all around the park, which was nice, because I haven’t been to central park all that much. We saw the Dairy, the Carousel, the Turtle Pond, and the Duck/Sailboat pond. That sparked a fun little game we played, called ‘Duck or Sailboat.’

“Ok Oliver, is that a duck or a sailboat?’

“That’s defiantly a sailboat!” The poor guy had lost his glasses.

“Ok, how about over there? Is that a bunch of ducks, or a bunch of sailboats?”

“Hmm..I think that’s a bunch of ducks. Defiantly a bunch of ducks”

“Good job! Now, are they boy ducks, or girl ducks?”

“How am I supposed to tell that?”

“Well, boy mallards have green heads. The girls are brown.”

“Ok, that’s not fair. I can’t see that well without the glasses.”

The conversation then, inevitably turned to anatomy. I don’t know why, but for some reason every single time I’m on a first date, I wind up talking about anatomy somehow. (Once, when out with Pretty Pete, Smooth Operator came on the radio. That song was how we remembered the largest foraman in the body, the Obturator Foramen. “Smooth obturator foremen…..” very uncool.) This time, it was the location of the human heart. We both agreed that it was fucked up that we were told that the heart was on the left side of the chest, when in reality, its more medial, sightly larger towards the left.

Have you ever, during a date, just got that delicious swirl in your stomach, the one that’s nerves, arousal, and just…awww? I got that three times with Oliver. The first was when he walked up to me in Columbus Circle. The second was as thus:

We were talking about how awesome it was living alone, if only so no one can touch your computer. I was telling him about how my mother found out something she really really didn’t want to know.

Now, those of you who know me, already know most everything about me. You know that I have a fair few partners. You know I like boysex, and, that I’m kinky. But sometimes, even I get shy, and don’t know how to bring that sort of thing up with new boys, especially ones that I kinda like and don’t want to scare off. The story of my mom finding out about my love of kink makes a good segue, because its funny.

“What was it she found out? Or is it too embarrassing to share?”

I laughed, “Well, have you ever heard of Paddles?”

“The object?”

“No, the club. The BDSM club.”

“Ooh! I’ve heard about it at TES meetings, but I haven’t been there before.”

That my friends, was the second squirmy feeling. All I could think after that was “OMG, he’s been to TES meetings. He’s been to TES meetings! He’s probably kinky! OMG!”

I continued. “Well, I had the website up on my computer. My mother decided to vacuum, and knocked into the computer desk, and the computer went out of the sleep mode, and she saw the site. The site makes it look much more over the top than it really is. My mother told Dad, and we had to sit down and have a chat about it.”

“Oh my god, that sucks! What did she want to do?”

“Well, she wanted me to stop, and she thought she could, you know, tell me not to go. But I was 22 at the time, there really wasn’t much she could do about it. She looked at my dad, and asked ‘Well, what are we going to do about this? Huh?’ and my father said quite possibly the best thing he’s ever said. He said ‘Well, what do you want me to do? Spank her? Obviously that didn’t work!’”

“Oh no, he really said that?”

“Yup. My dad rocks.”

After that, we walked some more, and wound up at 81st and Broadway. We both needed to go home, and decided to try and get together during the week for dinner. Then, we hugged, somewhat awkwardly. We pulled apart, and he kissed me. Squirmy feeling number three! It was so sweet, and endearingly awkward. I actually walked away somewhat dazed, touching my lips.
