Holiday giving-type meme: I’m all for it. Here’s the cut and paste:
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered…whatever you’re comfortable with) to your LJ or Myspace or Blog. The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it’s your address or just an email address at which you can be contacted by potential wish-grantors, real or imaginary.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your post, so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friends list/blogroll/RSS feeds (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list.
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make someone’s wish come true. Sometimes someone’s trash is another’s treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you won’t use–or even know where you could get someone’s dream purebred Basset Hound for free–do it.
You needn’t spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn’t to put people out, it’s to provide everyone a chance to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not–it’s your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just…wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you’ll have the joy of knowing you made someone’s holiday special.
I love this meme! Its fun to be able to see if you can fill the holiday wishes of your friends!
1) Hand knitted socks. I’ve never had a pair of hand knitted socks before, and I think they would be lovely and warm and fun, and plus, someone would have made them for me, which makes them even more special!
2) Tarot cards! I love tarot cards, and I collect fun and interesting decks. There are a ton on my amazon.com wish list (see my blog side bar) that I want, but any deck that is striking, fun, or interesting is good. Like the Hello Kitty Tarot deck (which I do not have) or the Tarot de Los Muertes (which I do have!) Second-hand ‘used’ decks are ok, as long as they are complete. I generally don’t use my collection decks in readings.
3) Discworld paperbacks. I have no Discworld books of my own, and I no longer have a roommate who has them all! I have none, so any are appreciated, but I particularly like the Witches books. Used or new, doesn’t matter, coz books is books!
4) Cute rat related stuff. I miss my ratties, so trinkets and other rattie…things… are awesome.
5) New, pretty folding fans. I love the one Miss Vivian gifted to me, so I certainly don’t want to wear it out with over use! In that vein, a fan case would be lovely.
6) Crafting supplies and cross stitch kits - there are a bunch on my amazon.com wishlist. I’m turning into quite the cross stitch geek!
7) Photo frames of any size, but particularly 8×10 and 5×7 - I always need nice, basic photo frames to frame my needle point projects. Any sort of frames, as I’ll always be doing new fun projects that will probably match, eventually. :) Again, new or used is find. Don’t throw away frames you don’t like! Give them to me!
8) A boot jack, to take my boots off. And new boot laces, for ten eyelet Doc Martin boots. Black, purple, red (hey, I can flag for fisting with my boots!).
9) Pretty much anything off my sex toy wishlist…I always love new sex toys. Or my regular wishlist. Books are always appreciated.
11)This one is mostly for my lady friends - As I’m having my LAP Band surgery in a few days, and I’ll be loosing mad crazy weight within the next few months, keeping me in mind if/when you go through your closets to get rid of clothing would be awesome. Especially since I’m broke! So, if you happen to have stuff you don’t want and think I might like, let me know. I’ll even haul it away for you!
