The Daaaammmn….factor

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

There are a few (very few) upsides to having male roommates, especially a male roommate who you have dated. They kill the big icky bugs (I was a funeral director. Most bugs don’t bother me, but roaches make me scream like a girl) They open jars. They change the light bulbs I can’t reach.

And then, there is what I call the “Daaaammmn….” factor.

I don’t have a full length mirror. When I want to see how an outfit looks, I have to open the medicine cabinet and stand on the toilet. So whenever I’m going out, if I’m not sure if I’m really looking good, I stop by Daniel’s room to see what he thinks. Now, as he’s all mono and dating Dianna (as in, the Huntress. Just, without the having hounds that rip males to shreds bit), he can no longer say how hot I look lest he give my dirty mind the wrong idea. But at some point, he has wanted to sex me, and has sexed me, so I know there’s a tiny spark there. I’ve always been able to read him like a book. And sometimes, like yesterday, that looks says ‘Daaaammmn….girl looks good!’ Seriously, that is so much better than a mirror. Because while I’m usually confident about my looks, I never particularly wanted to sleep with myself. And I needed that sort of validation yesterday, because I was getting ready to go out to dinner with Franklin, the ex of previous posts. I needed to feel that I looked good enough for him to be regretting dumping me. (So sometimes I’m petty. Sue me.) I’m pretty sure it worked. I looked awesome, and dammit, I’m an awesome girlfriend.
Really. I take good care of the men in my life. Treat ‘em like kings. I cook ‘em dinner. When they stay over, I make breakfast. I keep a clean place. I give the most amazing head you’ll ever get from a straight girl, and I like to make out with girls. I know men will be men. I will bring the beer and make the hotwings. The only thing I harp on is the whole ‘toilet seat’ thing. (No one like a wet ass at 2 am when they stumble half blind to go to the bathroom at night, ok? No one. Just put the goddamn seat and lid down. Have you ever had the misery of dropping your favourite tweezers in the toilet coz the lid was up? I have. 15$ tweezers, down the drain. Literally. I didn’t have gloves. I fucking flushed them.)
We met up at Kenka, my favourite Japanese restaurant ever. There’s a big creepy statue of a beaver standing outside. The menu has a rule about not masturbating in the restaurant. They were shut down by the board of health for a bit. But goddamn, I have never had Udon Noodle Soup or Onigiri that good, and that cheap anywhere else. When he saw me, I got the ‘Daaaammmn….’ look from him too. Sweet!
I was surprised that the dinner actually went well. I admit, I was ridiculously nervous. Franklin and I hadn’t seen each other since the post break up ritual of The Exchange of Stuff. God that sucked. We talked about my new awesome sex life, his uncle’s continuing sobriety (Which really made me happy to hear. His uncle was in a bad bad way when we ended things, and I liked him, and was honestly concerned.) His sister is still dating a young Earnest Hemingway. I was reminded that poor Franklin’s mother’s is also a Wendy, and here I am running around calling myself Wendy. Ah Lily, you created a mind fuck and didn’t even realize it. I found out the chick he started dating after me wasn’t that cool. (She hated horror movies and gore of all kind) and I also found out Franklin still talks about me whenever dead people show up on TV or in the movies.
I was really pleased about the way it went. I have a good feeling that we’ll be able to stay friends. Though we firmly set it down that we will not have sex, ever ever again. That would just be too fucking weird. It was different for me and Daniel. We were always more friends than anything, though I was in love with him at the time, I never told him. We declared our love for each other months later, in a platonic way. And sex. Should Franklin and I sleep together again…it would fuck everything up. There are, of course, various ‘precautions’ taken. One, I now own a snake, and Franklin is terrified of them. Two, I’m getting laid regularly and often by other men. I’m even debating bringing him to a party. Not one of Jefferson’s. Never. I have way too much fun there, and wouldn’t want to kill my groove by bringing my ex. But there’s another party I may go to in June, more of a one off, that he might enjoy, close to his new place. I’m still debating though…ah well, we’ll see.
After dinner, we walked, we chatted, we ate cotton candy, and I pondered buying another hat.
Thus ended awkward ex dinner.

The story continues or, How I got invited to my first official orgy

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

I spent the next few days in a haze of tobacco and Xanax, but to my surprise, I bounced back pretty quickly. Of course I was sad, but the mental meds, therapy, and my friends and family kept me from sinking back down into a relapse of depression and pain. I had never wanted to cut so bad before in my life, but I’ve been S.I. free since April 2004, and I didn’t think that anything was worth falling off the wagon for.
I still get depressed about it, but I know its over. I harboured no delusions of us getting back together, though the next night I did make that drunken 2 am sobbing phone call. The (Tarot) cards have never lied to me when I read them with an open heart and mind, and they were telling me it was over and that I would be moving on to bigger and better things. They were right.

I went home to stay with my parents for a few days, and my sisters bought me Valentines, chocolate and a gift card to Waldbaums, which to the delight of everyone in my family, I mispronounce as “Walbums.” My mother and I saw Les Miz, and we were close enough to watch the actor playing Jean Valjean spit while he sang. We were also close enough for me to ogle the young man playing Grantare, and I attempted to convince my mom that we ought to wait backstage so I could jump his bones (which I phrased much nicer for my mother)

It was all bravura, of course, but I did realize that this was a good opportunity for me. Being dumped shot me right back into action. I redoubled my job search, cracked down hard in school, and finally started giving the eye back to the hotsmart boy in my comparative lit class. (Goddamn, good looking AND able to intelligently discuss Paradise Lost and the Marriage of Heaven and Hell? What more could a girl want?) My heart was starting to heal, and my sexual interest in other men was starting to come back. The old Wendy was on her way back.

A few weeks later, I was hanging out in Daniel’s room, idly reading ‘Salt, a world history’ and wondering when I should try to fuck him again. It was becoming increasingly difficult to keep my mind off the delicious cock I knew was in his pants. He was, until very recently, the biggest of all my past partners. (I figured out recently that I somehow had hit the sexual lotto for a size queen – all of the guys I’d encountered, were well above average in length and girth, with the exception of Rob, but he MORE than made up for it in other ways.) I had mentioned how big he was to Franklin, and I think it might have bothered him. I’m sure men are just as bad as women when it comes to comparing themselves to each other. I spent quite a bit of time lying to him about my love of Daniel’s cock. “Oh no. Too long! Bangs yer cervix.” (Oh god, did it, but it was so.fucking.hot, and so goddamn good….) Anyway, I was sitting there, reading about salted cod and trading routes through Europe, and thinking about getting laid, when Daniel managed to drag himself away from WoW enough for a conversation.

“So, what do you do Tuesday nights?” he asked

“Well, after school I watch the new episodes of House, Law and Order: SVU, and try to catch ECW, why?”

“Do you want to go to an orgy?”

“What, now?”

“No, in two weeks. Lily’s friend, the one we had the three way with, has an orgy every month. We’re going to the next orgy, and I’m going to a gangbang he’s having this Friday night. Lily thinks you should meet him too.”

Apparently Lily had the (entirely correct) idea that I ought to be having sex to get over Franklin, and that the best person for the job was Jefferson. I always knew she was a girl after my own heart. She was one of Daniel’s girlfriends, and she was the one I was rooting for. She’s adorable and sweet, has a hot body, and liked my rats (more importantly, they liked her.) She was also the one who dubbed me ‘Wendy’ in her blog.

“Are you kidding me? I’d love to go to an orgy!”

“Sweet! We’re so going to an orgy together! Let me give you Jefferson’s email, too. You should totally email him.”

Dan and I looked at each other.

“We’re going to have sex again, aren’t we?” he said

“Well, not right now, but probably.”
Daniel and I had always joked that if we were ever both single again, we’d probably start having sex again. We did after we broke up, but before we got together with other people, and I for damn sure wasn’t going to pass up the chance to get back in that particular saddle again!

Damnit, I blogged again!

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Recently, I’ve become involved with several people who have sexblogs, and I admit, they intrigued me. But I swore up and down I wouldn’t read blogs, I wouldn’t keep one. I kept a livejournal for years, which I loved keeping, but the drama, the angst…and then there was the fact that I found out my first boyfriend, the first love of my life, was cheating on me, and I found out via our blogs. I swore I would never mix my love and sex life with blogs again. But what can I say, they just seem so bloody fun! And how can I resist the chance to brag about my life right now, which fucking rocks my socks off?

It all started in February of this year…

I was madly in love with my wonderful boyfriend, Franklin. Everything was going well in my life. I had finally started going back to therapy and seeing a shrink and was on medication that was working. I was being a happy normal woman again, and working on overcoming my various mental issues. I hated my job, but was looking for a new one. I was living out of my parents house at last! I started going back to school and was doing well. Basically, life was good.

My 23rd birthday was fast approaching, and I was looking forward to it. Mom bought me sweet fucking orchestra seats to Les Mis, my favourite musical. I was trying to figure out what strip club I wanted to go to with my friends that weekend. Franklin was going to cook me dinner for my birthday/valentines day (My birthday is the day after). As the day approached, Franklin seemed more and more anxious. I assumed, wrongly, that it was because he was going to propose. We’d been together for almost two years, and had talked about moving in together and getting married.

Well boy howdy, was I ever wrong. I had been laid up at my parents all weekend, having thrown my back out (Thanks god I worked for a Chiro at the time!). My mother dropped me off in Queens Monday night, and I hadn’t even unpacked my stuff when Franklin arrived. I had missed him, he’d been busy with work and moving in to his new place, and I hadn’t seen him in nearly two weeks. I was looking forward to an evening of cuddling, hotsex, and birthday plans.

He knocked. I opened the door.

“Hey, hon. Ooh, I love your new haircut” I said, and then gave him a big hug. He stood stiffly in my arms, before pulling back.

“We need to talk.” He stepped into the foyer and shut the door.

I laughed. “Is this the conversation where you break up with me?”
He looked at me, and my laughter died.

“I think we should sit down.” He pulled me onto the couch. By then, I had already started crying hysterically, and sat down curled up against the arm rest.

“Listen, ever since I came home from London, I know you realized I’ve been a bit distant…”

I interrupted “You were working, and moving, of course you were busy!”

“I know, but I could have made more time if I wanted to…it just that I’ve been thinking a lot since my trip. I’m not sure if I should be in a relationship right now…I think we’re going in different directions…” Blah blah blah. By this time I was sobbing so badly I almost couldn’t hear him, but I got the point. And I of course ask the question I really don’t want the answer to at all.

“Did you meet someone else?”

“No! No, I just don’t think this is right for me right now. I need to be on my own right now. I’ve been feeling like this for a while now.”

“Was it something I did? Could I have done something else?”

I don’t honestly remember this part of the conversation clearly. He said no, of course, but like an idiot said that there were some things about our relationship that bothered him, but he ‘didn’t want to name specifics because he didn’t want to hurt me any more than he already had’. And then I asked one more big question, for me anyway.

“Did you have to wait this long and do it right before my BIRTHDAY? Couldn’t you at least wait till after?!”

“Well, I didn’t want to go through with celebrating Valentines day, and your birthday, knowing they meant so much to you and not nearly as much to me. I didn’t want to lie.” Sweet, I thought at the time. Drivel. My sister Christine felt the need to suggest that perhaps he just wanted to get out of buying me stuff. I love that girl, but sometimes she’s so.fucking.dumb.

By this time, I was a wreck. Franklin said that perhaps he should go, and he showed himself out…I watched out the window, until I saw him walking way from my building. I then retreated to my room, and sank down on the floor, wailing at the top of my lungs, crying hysterically for what seemed like forever. Finally, I stumbled to the bathroom to vomit several times, before going back to wailing in my room. (I have two roommates. Thing One, a friend of the other roommate, Daniel. Daniel and I had dated before Franklin and I, but we stayed good friend, but had started to grow apart after moving in together…just Friday morning, we had a nice long talk about things when he drove me out to Long Island, so things with us were better.) Thing 1 was completely oblivious to what was going on with me. World of Warcraft, you know. I felt so sick and alone, and I didn’t know what to do, who to call. Elizabeth was in California. Maria was in Minnesota. All my other friends were far out on Long Island. Christine wasn’t picking up her phone…And I desperately needed someone. I had never felt so bad before in my life, and I’ve felt pretty fucking low. Finally, I realized I could call Daniel. He wasn’t home at the time, he was on a date with Robin, one of his, at the time, many lady friend. Amazingly, he picked up right away.

“Daniel, where are you right now?” I sobbed, practically incoherent.

“Wendy, Jesus, whats wrong? Did one of the boys die? Whats wrong?” (the boys, as you’ll later read about, are my pet rats)

“Franklin…broke..up with me….” I choked out eventually.

There was dead silence on the line for a full minute, while I tried to breath again.

“What?” completely disbelieving.

“He broke up with me. Just now.”

“Oh shit. Are you ok? I’m out with Robin right now, we just got dinner.”

“No. I want to die. I don’t what to do.”

“Ok. Just try to relax. I’ll try to get back as soon as I can.”

“All right” I said in a small voice.

“Ok. We’ll talk soon.” We hung up.

I was a complete wreck. I can’t stress that enough. I managed to pull myself together and get dressed enough to go out of the apartment. I still wasn’t thinking straight, but at a time like this, I instinctively turn to my vices. I bought a pack of Camels, asked directions to the nearest liquor store, and apparently, I looked enough like shit that they let me in even though they were closing. I guess a sobbing chain smoking girl looks like someone who needs a bottle of wine. Then, I hit up Taco Bell. I went back to my apartment, and sat everything down on the living room table, put on adult swim, and stared at the bottle of wine. I was, at the time, terrified of it. I knew that that, along with the various medications I have for my head, would be enough to do me in, or at the very least, put me in a bad bad state. I hid the corkscrew, and left it for now, and turned to the Taco Bell, laying pathetically catatonic on the couch, eating food that tasted like sawdust and trying to forget what just happened, but coming back to it over and over and over. After about 40 minutes of this, the front door opened, and Daniel walked in. He had the good sense to drop his stuff right there and come sit with me, rather than worrying about putting it away. He took me in his arms for the first time in ages, and let me sob away, doing his best to comfort me. After hours of agony that night, I was finally exhausted. I wanted to sleep, but I just couldn’t sleep in the bed Franklin and I had shared for so long. Daniel allowed me to sleep with him. I took my meds, and a sleeping pill, and drifted off at last.
